Wow, it has certainly been an eventful time since my last post. Did not make any posts for a while because my computer crashed, fried a hard drive. A big thanks to someone who hooked me up with two 500GB hard drives! I've been busy getting my operating system back up and running and now I'm working on getting all of my software back up. Waiting on a piece of hardware to arrive today and gotta get my sound equipment (for recording and whatnot) set back up. My hard drive went bad for god knows what reason. My monitor also went bad at the same time. The new one finally came in, I'm thrilled and it looks amazing. These LCD screens are so much clearer than the old CRT screens I've grown up with.
Not only did my computer have problems but my laptop fell off my couch, because someone sat it somewhere they shouldn't have, and now I get to deal with that as well.
I also just now got a phone call about my car from the person driving it at the moment. One of my mirrors fell off while they were driving down the street.
On top of everything my roommate moved out a while back, it's honestly much more calm and quiet.
Congratulations to Jessica who is having her baby today! God bless and good luck!

Happy Fathers Day!
Happy Fathers Day! Haha! Not so much today, on this end, but moreso last night. I spent last night with my father listening to music, playing music, and overall just relaxing after a hard day working.
Today, though, gets to be spend having dinner with my family at my grandmothers. Not my idea of fun, honestly, but oh well.

Parents Beware! Spare the rod, spoil the child?
It just hit me, the problem with todays youth that is. Have you ever noticed todays youth being so mischevious, misbehaved, mouthy, etc.? Well, I have, being barely out of youth myself.
Sparing the rod and spoiling the child is the problem! Of course, some parents believe they can not spank their children, and some politicians believe this as well. At least where I live, if you spank your child with an open palm on their bottom it is legal (so long as marks are not left). Haha, this is a bunch of crap! When I was little I got spankings when I misbehaved, I got back-handed when I smarted off, and so forth.
It seems that a spanking is a bad thing? No! My parents did it, their parents did it, their parents did it, and so on! They all came out pretty good I'd say! I came about fairly well also.
To hell with sparing the rod, I'll use the damn thing! When I was a kid, we did not have video games (they were still a new technology, about the most we had was nintendo, sega, or atari!), nor did we have air conditioning, nor did we have cable television! Know what this left us to do? We played outside... CONSTANTLY! It was our only fun all summer. Playing street ball and riding bikes was about it. This also kept us healthy! Until I was able to stay inside to play video games, watch television, and so forth I was thin and healthy! Now? Haha!
So parents, please don't spare the rod. If it is a nice day, why not suggest to your kids to go play OUTSIDE! Shoot some hoops, play football, ride bikes, even go swimming! I used to spend entire summers camping with only a friend and what we could carry. We would go for 3+ days at a time and come home only for a couple of days.

Wow, some powerful storms we had roll through this morning. Kinda irritating because I was staying with a relative in town. The storm woke me up about 4AM but I managed to go back to sleep for an hour. That put me at five hours of combined sleep! Hurrah! Anyways, they issued a tornado warning for a few counties, including mine, even though there was not even a funnel cloud. They issue them for a possibility now? I thought that is what the tornado watch was for! It used to be that way, but that was several years ago.
I went back to bed when I got home for a couple of hours, which put me about seven hours of combined sleep, thank God! Have been cleaning all morning, rearranged my computer and set-up two others that I have, running one as a server and the other I am going to put Linux on (though I do not know which distribution yet). Was supposed to be painting a garage today but with the rain this morning and more coming throughout the day we decided to put it off until this weekend (because tomorrow we have had the day planned for being off).
The black computer (and monitor to the right) is my gaming computer and the computer I am composing this from. It is yet another custom build of mine. The other monitor goes to the other two computers, the computer in the middle being a server. Anyways, there are more storms supposed to be coming through today and tonight, so we will see how things go.
It is only 79 degrees (F) with a heat index of 82. Was supposed to be near 90 today but I think the rain cooled us down. The humidity, though, is 77% and we can not use the air-conditioning with utility prices being so high. We can barely afford to heat our house in the winter (being surrounded by corn fields, even though we live in a town) it gets extremely cold. We are getting two box fans to put in the windows, though, so it won't be so bad.

The Bold Adventurers
I don't know, it's raining again today, though more rain today than yesterday. It's a slow but steady rain, somewhat irritating because we have a job we are supposed to be doing starting yesterday. We are now put back two whole days, doing prep today though with hopes of sunshine tomorrow.
There is a long lost art, though it is still practiced, it is not percieved as an art. The art of smoking tobacco, there is an artistic side to it though it may be a nasty habit. Ponder this thought.
It has been a long time since I felt the urge to write poetry, but here is a little something I worked up.
We come from far and deep
with little but food and drink
always searching for what we seek
or so we always seem to think
Through rain
through snow
we complain
but we still go
Through hot
through cold
we shall not
yet feel too old
Through forests
over mountains
we get little rest
but we still grasp the reins
Across lakes
and through the fields
we claim our takes
and take our yields
We are bold adventurers
We are bold adventurers

Peace
Okay, so I have been doing some thinking today while I've been cleaning. What has everyone learned about when Kev starts thinking? It's dangerous. So, peace? Life? What does the title mean? Well, Im going to talk about how to maintain a state of peace in life, it is wonderful and does not mean you can not go to work, school, etc.
To have a life of peace you can still go to work and school or whatever else it may be you do. Make sure to get plenty of sleep. I do not mean if you can be fine on 5 hours of sleep to do that, NO! I mean to try to get enough sleep that you feel recharged when you get up. For me this is anywhere from 7-9 hours.
Be sure to eat something for breakfast, preferably light if you eat within an hour of waking. A bowl of cerial would even suffice. Do not immediately get up and smoke a cigarette, wait until after breakfast to do this!
Take ten minutes out of your day sometime, even if it is ten minutes earlier than going to bed, and find a comfortable spot and position. When comfortable you should read a book, listen to music that you find relaxes you (experiment with this, need ideas? ask me!) and do this for ten minutes. Doing this twice daily is a good habit to get into, once in the morning before you start your day and once before bed. Doing so in the morning will relax you mind for the day ahead and doing so before bed will relax your mind from the day and allow you to sleep more calmly and peacefully.
Don't believe this works? At least try it to find out if it helps you. I find that it helps me greatly, I have actually taken to reading for an hour or so before I go to bed three nights per week. Not only do I read like this but I take time during the day (such as when I get up and have breakfast) to sit and listen to relaxing music. If you smoke then have a cigarette while relaxing, take slow relaxed breathes while smoking though. If you smoke a pipe then take a pinch of tobacco and smoke while you relax (seriously, tobacco, avoid the other 'smoke' while doing this)
Do not drink alchoholic beverages while doing this, it does not help but only seems to inhibit. I hope you have enjoyed reading this, and certainly hope you will give it a try. Feedback is always a plus!
